Check this out. Lapierre are rolling out a UK based development race programme with a difference. Not only are they offering places to young DH racers looking to take their racing to the next level, the Lapierre Cadets are also looking for mechanics, photographers and videographers to join the team and develop their own careers in these competitive fields. This is pretty awesome in our books and we especially like the concept of a development team that truly encompasses the real factory team dynamic. Interested? You should be, read the press release below…
Riders, Mechanics, Videographer’s and Photographers we need you! F8 management is pleased to announce the formation of a new development team for the UK national race circuit. Together with our new partners we are now able to launch the ‘Lapierre Cadet UK Development Team’.
If you’re a Juvenile, Youth or Junior rider looking to take part in the 2012 British Downhill Series, have 50 BC points or more, and you’re looking to join a team to help progress your riding career, then we would like to here from you now! Selected riders will have the exclusive opportunity to join a team setup with a world-class support structure that will be comparable to a top World Cup team. Receiving this complete race season package for less than the price of a bike.
This has been made possible thanks to the support of UK distribution company Hotlines Europe Ltd, meaning we can offer young riders a custom built, World Cup standard, Lapierre DH920 race bike, plus full race support package for just £4’950.00
Included in this price, each rider will receive the following…
- Custom Lapierre DH920 downhill race bike.
- Full ‘head to toe’ custom NEMA team race kit (jerseys, shorts/pants, helmet, goggles, gloves, socks, shoes and jacket)
- Casual team kit.
- Entries into the British Downhill Series in 2012.
- 2 Uplift days to include skills coaching (with Will Longden) and bike setup (with Andy Ward).
- ‘World Cup’ standard race pits.
- Mechanic.
- Physiotherapist. (at rounds of the BDS that do not clash with World Cups)
- Race event manager
- Performance coach including diet and fitness plan.
- All food and drink at rounds of the British Downhill Series.
- Spare parts at discount prices.
- Ongoing training and development
Having this level of support was previously impossible for a grass roots rider or developing privateer. This standard of equipment and team support over a race season has a value of up to £15,000. So the team price of £4’950.00 is a fantastic opportunity to help young UK riders become the next Danny Hart.
No team would be complete without a good mechanic, so if you’re a mechanic and currently work for a Lapierre dealer within the UK, please get in touch. This could be a great chance to gain some valuable race team experience, if you have ambitions to work on the National or International race circuit. A lot of World Cup mechanics still maintain their bike shop jobs between rounds and during the off season. This will also be good for your shop as a great selling point to all customers who will appreciate your experience to maintain and tune bikes at the cutting edge of bike racing and technology.
To maximize exposure for our new team throughout the season, and to make full use of print and online media available to us, we also require the services of both a Videographer and a Photographer. So if you fancy yourself as the new Clay Porter or Sven Martin then we would like to here from you also.
The Photographer, Videographer and a Mechanic will get their race weekend expenses paid to attend each BDS round, plus team clothing and also race weekend food/drink. More importantly for those selected they get the chance to show their work/skills while working for a professionally run team, therefore gaining them exposure and hopefully getting a ‘foot in the door’ into the race orientated media.
