Core Bike Show 2016 – home of some great MTB kit
Core Bike Show 2016 is our favourite trade show of the year – a core of bike distributors get together and take over Whittlebury Hall, near Silverstone. It’s the first time of the year that most the bike trade get to see the latest gear in the flesh, and there are always a few cool things that pop up. Here’s what we spotted on our visit…
Race Face | Chester pedals
The budget range from Race Face includes these high performance nylon pedals. With all the features of more expensive pedals, the Chester are a price point pedal with removable pins, a cromo axle and sealed bearings. Tidy.

Trian | Enduro saddle
Retailing for £120 with carbon rails and £90 with alloy rails, the Trian Enduro saddle is a bit different to most. Instead of the rails being mounted directly to the base of the saddle, they are mounted via elastomer bumpers – suspending the saddle from the rails.

This offers a lot of small bump absorption, and overall comfort as the saddle is able to move with your hips. All the hard ware is available in various colours to match your bike too – a great hop-up.
TSG knee pads
TSG have made great protection for a long time, and these are two of the latest offerings. The TSG Tahoe (on the left) is a soft pad with a hard, rubbery cap that flexes but offers much great impact protection with d30 under the cap.
On the right is the denim pad. Which is definitely a marmite pad – what do you reckon?
Sun Race MX 11 speed Cassette
This is a budget 11 speed cassette with a 11-40 or 11-42 range. Simple, and good value at £64.99 and £74.99 respectively.

HT Components | different sized flat pedals
For riders with big or small feet – the HT AE06 is £99 and will suit riders with size 10 feet and up, whereas the AE12 is £79 and aimed at woman and kids. Pedals that fit your feet make perfect sense!

Identiti Mettle Prototype Enduro bike
The Identiti Bikes Mettle Prototype is designed with the awesome Michael Bonney.
This is just a mock-up – real geometry will likely be 65degree head angle with a 1200mm wheelbase on the size medium. We like what we see!

Poc Tectal and Tectal Race
We’ve already reviewed the Tectal Race helmet, but it’s finally available on the UK shores. Check our review from last year that we’ve just reposted right here.
Feedback Sports Omnium turbo Trainer
Turbo trainers can be bulky affairs, but this neat turbo we spotted at Core Bike Show 2016 is a super neat design that folds up in to a tiny bag. Much sought after by race mechanics, this compact design is light, very stable and is compatible with 100 and 110mm axle spacing and comes with a convertible axle set up. Resistance is from an internal magnet design, and the retail price is £349.
Hope 11 speed cassettes
The Hope cassette fits onto a specially made freehub that is machined slightly shorter to accommodate the 10t sprocket, and we are producing freehubs to suit both our new Pro 4 as well as the older Pro 2 EVO hubs. XC ratios are 10-40 or 10-44 in 11 speed spacing, all keeping within the magic 20% ratio change between gears. DH ratios are 10-24, again in 11 speed spacing.
The steel part of the cassette will be longer lasting and larger aluminium sprockets are replaceable. DH cassette is £150, XC is £175.
- XC – 11 speed spacing- 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 24, 28, 32, 36 and 40t
- XC – 11 speed spacing – 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 24, 28, 32, 38 and 44t
- DH – 11 speed spacing – 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 24t
High end Nukeproof builds
Already renowned for brilliant ride attributes, the range of Nuke Proof bikes are certainly great value bikes, but importer Hotlines wants to remind people they are 100% based on trail performance.
We spotted this 2016 Mega with an awesome spec, and the drool worthy Fox X2 shock. And we have one coming in for a test ride soon – it’s a hell of a bike, that happens to be great value too.

Topeak Joe Blow Booster pump
Designed to inflate and seat tubeless tyres in an instant, this pump from Topeak sits up there with Bontrager and Airshot in the must have workshop accessories. As with all Topeak products, it has a great design, it’s easy to use and is well made. £119.99.

Intense Uzzi
Yeah, it’s an Intense. The new Uzzi with JS Tuned suspension – instead of the previously used VPP design.

Core Bike Show 2016 | Intense Uzzi
What does that mean? Improved small bump compliance and an action that’s a lot more active throughout the travel. And it comes in purple.
Evil Bikes – everyone is talking about them
The stunning range of bikes from Evil has just been headed up by the formidable The Wreckoning. Take a closer look right here

Reynolds were showing off some top flight new wheels based around stunning Industry Nine hubs. Wider 40mm rim options will suit the 27.5 plus riders, and the Enduro and Trail models are 28mm and 25mm respectively. We’ll be taking a closer look soon.
The DMR Brendan Fairclough signature grip – the Deathgrip – is finally available. They look awesome! £16.99.
Look for new stuff coming from Vee Tyres – some awesome looking new tyres are on their way!
