Mondraker Foxy Receives Carbon Treatment

April 25th, 2014

We we’re already fans of the Mondraker Foxy and are long-time lovers of Forward Geometry but Mondraker have taken their popular 140mm trail bike and created a full carbon version…and it’s rather nice.

The Foxy is a model which first appeared in the Mondraker line-up some 10 years ago and is billed as a 140mm ‘trail bike’ which not only scampers up climbs but also descents as well. The popular bike saw not only 650B wheels added in 2014 but also a reworked suspension kinematic for improved performance when run with a single front chain ring and new tubing throughout the whole frame. On top of these adjustments 2014 also saw Forward Geometry introduced across the Foxy range (having previously only featured on the XR model) with a 10mm stem on the top end XR and 30mm stems on all other models (Forward Geometry sees the bike feature a longer top tube and a shorter stem giving increased performance in all areas). The carbon version does differ slightly with a 30mm stem coming as standard on all three models with the option to upgrade to a 10mm stem should you desire but is shares the same strong heart and performance as its aluminium brother. The introduction of a carbon Foxy is something many had predicted but it has taken Mondraker three years to bring to market having spent hundreds of hours on the trail perfecting its performance and trail etiquette wanting to get their first carbon full suspension machine 100% right.

Constructed with Mondraker’s own ‘Stealth Carbon technology’ tubing and based on their Zero Suspension System the Foxy carbon is one very nice looking bike. Out front a tapered head tube leads a host of trail bike features with everything from ISCG05, ‘stealth’ dropper routing, 142x12mm rear axle and protective guards ticking the full trail bike wish list. The lighter (2.1kg) frame is not only a thing of beauty but having had the chance to ride one for a short while we can confirm its high trail performance and ride quality.

We will bring you a full test very soon.
