Charge Bikes Cooker Maxi Ti – a super light and trick fat bike

Those guys at Charge Bikes love doing things a little differently, and this custom fat bike build we spotted at the recent The Bike Place Show has to be one of the nicest looking fat bikes around.

Based around the Cooker Maxi, this Cooker Maxi Ti beauty is made from seamless butted 3AL 2.5v Tange Ultimate Titanium tubing. And considering it has monstrous 3.8in Surly Nate tyres, the tan walls on them just manage to look right. And kind of remind us of something from a Mint Sauce cartoon…

Cooker Maxi Ti - Charge Bikes

Love or hate fat bikes, you can’t deny that the Cooker Maxi Ti manages to clean up the whole oversized look. This thing looks amazing!

The Charge Bikes crew went to town on the spec of the Cooker Maxi Ti – even getting some custom graphics made up for the Rockshox Bluto fork.

Cooker Maxi Ti

As with all Charge bikes, the Cooker Maxi Ti has very clean lines. Immaculate welding and classic styling hold the eye.

One of the things that holds fat bikes back are heavy wheels – you have to turn that huge amount of rubber round, so making the wheels as light as possible is the way. Ultra trick HED Big Deal carbon rims not only look amazing on the Cooker Maxi Ti, but they can save you up to 1.5lbs per wheel – which can make an enormous difference in rotational weight and how the bike feels. Obviously it makes quite a difference to your wallet too – $2100 a set currently, with no UK pricing just yet.

The HED Big Deal rims are laced on to Hope Fatsno hubs for the ultimate in durability, and slim, comfortable Fabric grips make sure the contact patch is great even when using winter gloves. Which you should be given this thing is really designed for riding on snow and ice…

Cooker Maxi Ti

A recent visit to Iceland made us realise how nice it would be to explore the winter wonderland by bike. We reckon the Cooker Maxi Ti could be great for riding out here – if you could handle the conditions.

Whilst adventurous tourists favour the skidoo for missions out on the snow, locals still use the Icelandic Horse – but there’s room for fat bike action. But could you hack it in seriously cold conditions?

Cooker Maxi Ti

By no means are we huge fat bike fans – but the Cooker Maxi Ti is damned nice, and a bike we’d definitely like in our flock!
