Brand new trail helmet from Giro Sport Design

Although we’ve heard the rumours for a while and Giro’s own Dain Zaffeke hinted to me at what might be coming – we’ve not seen the new Montaro mens and Montara womans helmets until now.

Both helmets feature the MIPS system,  and are aimed to offer maximum protection and a minimum of weight and bulk.

Although the Feature is still a great helmet, Giro really needed a flag ship off road helmet that sits along side the Troy Lee Designs A1 and Bell Super 2R, reflecting where MTB is now – the Montaro and Montara helmet is aimed at big mountain and adventure riding.

Essentially proper mountain biking where a little more protection is required, but without sacrificing ventilation.

16 vents aim to pull air in and around your head, whilst the latest version of the Roc Loc cradle system keeps your head securely in place. New hydrophilic pads absorb more sweat and further aid temperature management.
