Fort William: Pits n Pieces
June 8th, 2013

Its taken a long time to come around, but the 2013 international race season is officially a go and like always, there’s plenty of shiny new stuff to look at and here in Fort William. Aside from the unusual and much appreciated weather here in the highlands, the manufacturers have some rad stuff on show and without going crazy, here’s a few snippets from yesterday with more stuff to come over the next few days…

Burgtec have been busy planning a whole new range of products including a MKIIII pedal, carbon bars, hubs and this, the first product to land – the all-new Enduro Stem.
Bryce’s new Monster’d up Fox Rampage Pro Carbon looks pretty sick…
They’re not far away now with the first production drops due any day with quite a few dotted around the pits – the Evil Uprising looks set to be a trail killer!
Brook taking time out to sign some posters – top bloke and one hell of bike rider!
Never far from a camera these days…
Sam’s manager Nigel page and mechanic Brooks make some last minute adjustments to the bike before a trip back up the mountain.
Troy Lee hooked up Peaty with this stunning patriotic Monster Energy number and fingers crossed for this making production…
Evil’s Luke Strobel and one of the sweetest bikes on the circuit this year, and a welcome return to World Cup competition.
Custom zombie wraps on the factory Undeads.
Another item that we hope makes production is this, Sram’s proto BlackBox DH specific rear mech and cassette – we asked about this earlier this year and word in the pits here is that this is exactly what everyone wants right now…
Gwin’s new TLD X RedBull lid should give you budding fans an idea of what’s coming in the new year from Troy Lee Designs…
Aside from the suspension, Troy and Aaron are one the same parts and both ran the TLD edition Demo 8 at the Fort – wonder when they’ll roll out the ’14 colours? I hear flo yellow is back and on the carbon frame…
This is the new Renthal direct mount, which is in its final stages of prototyping and should be out in a couple of months.
What can you say about this guy that hasn’t already been said? DH, 4X, XC, Enduro and BMX – give this guy a bicycle and the rest is history.
Kevin Ailello’s new signature pedal from HT and yeah, they’re monsters!
It might have been a Monster Energy event, but Red Bull came into town with their own agenda…
I can’t say what these are, but rest assured, you’ll want them…
…or these. Five Ten’s ’14 range will blow your heads off!
It was the talk of the pits, but everyone was super stoked to see this guy back in town. I asked him if he missed it and of course he does, but will coaching the next wave of Aussie pinners give him any ideas of a comeback? The answer I got was a smile and a little twinkle in the big man’s eyes, but I wouldn’t count it out, even it was just for fun…
Not only was Nathan Rennie wandering around (and in a kilt for finals), but this guy too and unlike the beast, brought his bike with him. Sean McCarrol was a ripper back in the days of Global Racing and looked to be having a lot of fun on his V10, but sadly didn’t make the grade in qualies.
DVO’s DH forks anyone? Not breaking news, but in the flesh… Damn, these are rad!
2014 Commencal Supreme’s are looking pretty tidy and from what we hear, there’s some sweet bikes coming to a dealer near you in the coming months. Nothing revolutionary, just refinements of an already consistently good product and thankfully, some changes to pricepoint specifications.
You wanna know what’s happening in mountain biking? 27.5 is what’s happening…
