Oakley Airbrake MX Goggle

When your corporate mantra is “beyond reason” it goes without saying that you push the boundaries of what’s considered ‘standard’ and that’s exactly what Oakley have been cooking with all new Airbrake MX goggle. Just like the snow variant of the same name, the MX model uses a modular design allowing each component to be replaced when necessary. The frame features Oakley’s Switchlock design lever mechanism on each side, allowing you to quickly switch the lens without applying any pressure that would help distort visual clarity – this also means no more faffing when swapping lens’s!

Aside from features more commonly found elsewhere in their line, Oakley are also using their Plutonite lens material (similar to what’s used in their sunglasses), which we all know is bullet proof and a first for ‘dirt’ application – so worries when it comes to impact resistance from dirt and rocks! The lens is also massive and should hopefully offer an extremely wide viewing angle and enhances peripheral vision. This is a massive step away from your typical MX lens, which is stamped from a flat sheet of ‘lexan’ style material, which literally bends into place within the goggle frame and ultimately causes a degree of visual distortion.

According to sources online, Oakley are also (finally!) adopting a roll-off system, but with the canisters attached inside the strap, as well as regular post mounted tear offs. So, the big question… How much and when can you buy them? Well, the snow variant is about £200GBP, so I’d imagine a little less, but not a million miles away and the official launch is March – start saving now!
