Getting Rad in the Desert – Red Bull Rampage 2012

October 5th, 2012

By Factory Jackson in Features

This coming week end, a dusty Utah valley will be the centre of attention where some of the worlds most talented riders will pitch themselves against the savage terrain and the judges watching their every move. They will be competing in what is known as the most definitive mountain bike freeride contest ever; the Red Bull Rampage. Big lines, big moves and on big bikes – there’s nothing quite like it.

With only 12 spots available, the pressure is on to join the already prequalified finalists. Looking to make the grade in 2012 are: Antoine Bizet, Garett Buehler, James Doerfling, Brendan Fairclough, Pierre Edouard Ferry, Thomas Genon, Casey Groves, Mick Hannah, Mike Hopkins, Brendan Howey, Ramon Hunziker, Mike Kinrade, Cam McCaul, Kelly McGarry, Anthony Messere, Kyle Norbaten, Sam Pilgrim, Brett Rheeder, Curtis Robinson, Nick Simcik, Martin Soderstrom, Chris Van Dine, Nico Vink, Greg Watts and Wil White.

The riders going straight to the final are: Gee Atherton, Darren Berrecloth, Logan Binggeli, Robbie Bourdon, Geoff Gulevich, Andreu Lacondeguy, Tyler McCaul, Alex Prochazka, Brandon Semenuk, Kurt Sorge, Kyle Strait, Thomas Vanderham and of course, Cam Zink. Excited? Just check these photos out and you will be!

You can only imagine what these guys are feeling getting in line to hit this…

Gee Atherton boosting a step up before tweaking his ankle on another section of his line. Gee’s a protected rider here, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens come finals.

Brandon Semenuk will be hungry for the win here!

Words are failing me here… Cam Zink getting it done, but what can this guy do come finals? All eyes will be reigning Rampage champion, Cam Zink on finals and for good reason, seen Where the Trail Ends?

Sideways with Nico Vink. New Hope pedals and a Slayer sticker on his helmet!!! Coolest guy out of Belgium for sure!
