Eurobike: Sombrio, Evoc & Alpinestars

From Canadian cool to Scandinavia chic, Eurobike was crammed to the rafters with gear to keep even the fussiest riders content and looking sharp at the trails. First up is Sombrio, who after a lengthy meet and greet with the legend that is Dave Watson, we discovered are taking the footwear market very seriously indeed. With an extended line in 2013 and one of the largest catalogues in the business, Sombrio have got all corner covered. Here’s a snippet of what we saw…
White leather and gum sole anyone? The new shoes looked awesome and if they feel like the ones we’ve been riding in, they’re gonna perform out on the trail too.
There’s a fair old range now…
This is the new 2013 shoe range and I think a step in the right direction as far as the aesthetics are concerned.
Sombrio’s DH race strip is definitely in a league of its own as far as the aesthetics are concerned, especially when compared to the more moto inspired ranges from Fox and TLD and could well be what your after if standing out from the crowd and looking fresh is your thing.
This is one of Sombrio’s latest apparel prints; pretty unique? I definitely have a big soft spot for this stuff and we’ve got a bit in for review right now and it’s pretty impressive out on the trail too. Although pricey, Sombrio represents another solid brand doing their own thing and doing it well and definitely one for the rider looking for something they don’t see every day, at least in the UK or Europe where the brand is still growing. Out in Canada, this stuff is big time!
Sombrio has another range that’s purely casual and not bike specific – there’s so much of it, it would have been nearly impossible to cover even a fraction of what was on show, but the ‘chain-link’ toggle on this jacket was a neat little touch.
I think it’s fair to say Evoc landed on the bicycle scene and gave the luggage and hydration market a big colourful slap. With their unique styling, bright colours and a quality feel across the range, they certainly get your attention.
The new camera bag got our Nathan pretty excited!
Yep, that’s body armour. Evoc now have a range of well designed and sweet looking upper body armour – more on this when we have it!
Classic motorsports brand Alpinestars have always had a soft spot for MTB and 2013 shows they taking things seriously with a solid range to meet everyone’s riding persuasion including these bicycle specific race pants.
There’s no denying Alpinestars have unique styling that might be a little too Euro for some of us, but if crazy patterns and bright colours are your thing, your gonna go nuts for this stuff!
Loud enough? Not my bag, but they looked well made…
New Aero gloves felt amazing!
