Eurobike: Schwalbe, Mavic & Enve

The problem with trade shows is that sometimes you get there and you’ve pretty much seen it all before, either at a race or in the media somewhere. There are of course good things about trade shows too, past all the hot ladies wandering around and that’s actually getting your hands on rad new product and for us, hopefully getting it to the trails for a little testing… While cruising one of the several ginormous halls at Eurobike, we ended up spending a few hours talking bikes and dirt with the tyre company who live and breath the sport; Schwalbe. Literally in no time at all, Schwalbe have entered our lives and introduced us to some of the best rubber available and the mad thing is, they’ve only just started…
Super Gravity or ‘SG’ sounds pretty cool doesn’t it? This is a new development from Schwalbe addressing the issues raised by today’s DH and Enduro rider, who are both weight conscious and performance focused. What Schwalbe have done with their new SG line is to look at material allocation on the sidewalls and in a similar fashion to a frame manufacturer faced with similar issues, have moved material around and removed what wasn’t needed - what you get is a light weight tyre that’s hard to flat and roll off the rim.
Hans Dampf’s rule, check out our review HERE! This is of course an updated SG version and for those who may not know it, these were also the tyres used in Pietermaritzburg at the first round of the 2012 World Cup - super fast rolling and super grippy with a carcass designed to withstand punctures at low pressures. Sound good? We’ve got some in for review so we’ll let you know how we get on…
The 4 elements that add up to one bad ass tyre! Schwalbe have got so much rad stuff coming it’s crazy, so watch this space!
Mavic’s booth was insane and this thing, what ever it was, was like something out of a Kubrick movie. Oh yeah, it’s a wind tunnel thing for roadies to do weird roadie stuff with?
Dear Mavic, if you would like to send us some wheels to review, can we have these ones please… Crossmax SX hub detail.
The Mavic Crossmax SX wheels are pure awesome from the off. They look rad and the hub, although too quiet for me persoanlly, has excellent pick up and apparently great reliability. I don’t know any more than that, but hey Mavic, get in touch and lets talk!
Mmmm, French rims are so good!
There were factory race bikes all over the place – if your stand didn’t have one, you just were’t cool enough. Enve had Peaty’s bike so enough said.
Such nice bars, but Enve, you gotta make some risers with more than 15/20mm rise! I’d love some carbon bad boys on my bike, but I’m way too into 30mm right now and I’m not the only one. They still look pretty amazing… Nicest carbon bars on the market?
They now have a DH specific rim and oh my, I wish I was rich, or just rich enough that throwing a few ‘K’ on some bitchin wheels wouldn’t matter. If you are filthy rich and love the factory shit and don’t have these on your bike, why? You really should. These are so nice it hurts and I’m so poor, which hurts as well.
