Cam Zink Wins Chatel Mountain Style

July 4th, 2011

For the first time the weather didn’t play a part in the Châtel Mountain Style competition, held annually at the Pré de la Joux bike park, 10 minutes from Châtel, France. Sunny skies for all three days greeted the riders with only a cool breeze at the top of the course to worry about.

The Freeride World Mountain Bike Tour arrived for it’s only ‘mountain’ event of the year on this mini rampage event held on the bike parks ‘Face’ course. All the top riders were in attendance including Bearclaw back from his recent injury and sporting a new Leatt Brace. He did his classic 360 off the top drop.

Overall winner and current champion, Cam Zink, was the first to backflip and on his first run! Closely following by others he flipped the all new carbon Evil Undead off the penultimate Red Bull Jump. Geoff Gulevich had a sweet run too, followed by Semenuk and Sorge taking the lead after the first round.

After a classic French delay of 2 hours the riders started the second runs, Antoine Bizet looked like he might upset the superstars with his 2nd run but Zink’s speed and style won out.
