Preview: 2011 Troy Lee Designs D3 Carbon Pinstripe

April 8th, 2011

By Factory Jackson in Tech

The D3 helmet from Troy Lee Designs is the culmination of years of experience designing and manufacturing cutting edge helmets for off road bicycle and motorcycle riding. With a ‘no holds barred’ approach to product design where form meets function head on, Troy Lee Designs have never done things by halves and the D3 is no exception.

The 2011 Carbon ‘Pinstripe’ design featured here is a helmet that many of us have been crying out for, and for some time too – thankfully the design team at TLD were listening and it has proved to be one of the most sought after designs in recent years. The 2011 range also includes some rather wild designs, but there is certainly a helmet in there for everyone.

The only downside to the D3 is the price, at £426 GBP it’s no drop in the ocean and although you are getting a lot of helmet for your money, it is still a purchase many of us will have to think about. If you do choose to go down the D3 route, you will most definitely not be disappointed – this is one sick helmet!

So what else would the discerning TLD fan like to see in the 2012 range? We know there’s a new Peaty signature lid, which looks incredible, and there’s always the rumored Palmer D3 and perhaps some more minimal designs along the same lines as the pinstripe? Until then, check out the 2011 range and the in-depth Factory Jackson review of the Carbon D3 from last year, check it out here!
